Thai Learning Course from Beginner to Advance Level
At ALA Language School in Bangkok, we have two different types of Thai Language courses available: The Essential Thai Learning Program and the ED Visa Program
Essential Thai Learning Program:
This is a short Language course without an Education Visa (starting package 40+ hours). This program is ideal for students who wish to improve their Thai language skills for living and/or working in Thailand, without any need for a different visa type.
This Thai language course Bangkok can be either a group class or an exclusive 1-1 class
- Group class: There are typically 3 to 8 students per class. This environment provides a great opportunity to make new connections, meet more international friends, and overcome homesickness and the language barrier together.
- Exclusive 1-1 Class: You can learn the Thai language as per our existing course syllabus at your own pace, or additionally, we can customize lessons to suit your specific needs and interests.
ED Visa Program:
This is a long-term Thai Language course coupled with an Education Visa (3.5-Months to 14 Months.)
Dynamic Study Calendar – Learn Thai Language Your Way
ALA has constructed a monthly dynamic study calendar based on topic-focused lessons as tiny goals to be completed individually.
- There are re-runs of the same sessions at different times on a regular basis.
- If you miss a lesson, you can easily catch-up by joining one of the upcoming classes as per our available monthly onsite classes or try learning Thai online.
- Choose between interactive learning with teachers and classmates, or access recorded online classes for self-learning without feeling overwhelmed by a new topic.
You can join classes at any point of the month according to the monthly timetables which
best fit your schedule and lifestyle.

OUR COURSE SYLLABUS
Learning Thai language beginner to master with ALA Language School is a little different from most curriculums. Your progress will be marked as you advance from level to level, starting Thai learning course from pastel blue and rising to scarlet red.
This method is inspired by the hyper-game color palette and mini-goal achievements, as an analogy of the progress made from being a total newbie to learning to speak Thai as proficiently as a Thai native.
The curriculum details for our Thai language courses in Bangkok are as follows:
Jump Start Module
In our beginner speaking courses you will pick up a vast glossary of 500 to 600 essential vocabularies in each level. Additionally, you will learn a number of valuable Thai language structures which can be applied to your day to day life.
This Thai learning module is ideal for those who are completely new to Thai. You will be amazed by how swiftly you’ll progress, ready to jump into reading and writing the Thai language.

This Thai language learning will help you to overcome the initial language barrier and set you on a clear path to accomplish the fundamental stage of learning Thai language. You will learn Thai alphabet, including consonants and vowels, tone Markers, and structure. This level introduces you to ‘Phonetics’ or ‘Thai IPA’ which is a set of symbols that represent—and aid with—the accurate pronunciation of the Thai language for foreigners..

Lifehack 1 - 4:
Here you will learn vocabulary, structures, and patterns of contexts necessary for surviving in Thailand. You will also notice a breakthrough and crack the ways to enjoy daily conversation with native Thai speakers more efficiently.

Finally, we will encourage you to adopt and utilize your newly developed Thai speaking skills in day-to-day life. Focused Module
The Focused Module is designed for you to start comfortable reading and writing in Thai script. You will also be able to recognize the Thai alphabet, classes of consonants and vowels, and produce character sounds, short vowels, long vowels, tone marks, final consonants, and letter combinations.
During this module you will be able to read, write, and comprehend the meaning behind all of the terms that you picked up in the Jump Start Module, successfully taking your Thai language skills to the next level!
Writing and Reading 1-3:
Introduces you to the Thai writing system, starting from the Thai alphabet, to the reading and writing of different Thai fonts, various abbreviations, difficult vocabulary, and gradually progressing to reading short stories and composing your own essay or letter.
Topics: Learn the differences between the Thai letters by similar shape groups; Middle-High-Low class consonants; Short and long vowels; Tone marks; Final consonants; Live-dead syllable and clusters; Preceded ‘ห‘ and ‘อ‘, tone rules; Preceding and following consonants; The exceptions of ‘ร‘, the usage of ‘ฤ‘, ‘ฤา‘ and ‘ ใ– ‘; Silent markers and silent vowels.

Proficient Module
Once you have successfully completed the intermediate course (Focused Module), you will be able to choose between the 2 following options: Guideline 1-3 and Expert 1-3. Here’s everything you need to know about both options:
Guideline 1-3:
You are welcome to continue your Thai learning with Guideline 1-3. This is the highlight of the ALA Language School and something we are immensely proud of. Here we present guidelines to Thai grammar. You will learn how to better understand the difference between various confusing terms or words that have similar sounds and meanings, which are often mixed up.
You will also master the Thai language and its appropriate use in certain situations, times, and with specific groups of people.
Guideline 1-3: Delve deeper into the essential principles of Thai grammar. Again, here we will guide you on how to differentiate between the usage of various terms or words that are often confused.
Topics: ‘ให้‘, ‘ก็‘, ‘Only / Just’, ‘Self / Each other / Together’ in various situations; Passive voice; Modal verb; Compound words; Prefixes; Adverbs; Question words; Comparisons; Final particles; Conjunctions; Qualifiers; Expressions and colloquial language in Thai.

Expert 1-3:
Alternatively, you can continue your studies with Expert 1-3. This consists of various stories about Thai culture, traditions, beliefs, and values. These insights will help you further understand Thai people, while simultaneously improving your Thai reading and writing skills (as you will be required to read and write Thai paragraphs, while watching various video clips through QR codes attached to our E-Learning Expert Books). All in all, it’s an immersive experience that will bring you closer to Thai people, while helping you better communicate with them.
Bolster your reading and comprehension skills! You will learn to express and discuss the reading experience through more complicated Thai short stories, articles, news snippets, and magazines – thus deepening your understanding of Thai culture, lifestyle, and entertainment.

NOTE: Once you have completed either Guideline 1-3 and/or Expert 1-3 (as a pre-requisite to further advancement), you will then be eligible to move onto the following courses:
Enhance 1-2:
In this course you will be able to challenge yourself with the writing of formal Thai language by reading difficult articles that are related to societal interest topics, local Thai stories, legends, urban myth, novels, poems, and famous literatures, etc.
Topics: Plastic surgery; Renewable energy; Thai-only topics; Invitation to Thai weddings; Cryptocurrency; Mae-Nark Prakanong; Garuda & Naga; Ramayana, etc.

MasterClass Courses:
The MasterClass is an optional Thai learning course for those who have worked their way up to an advanced level and had significant experience with reading, writing, and communicating Thai in real life. All of the chapters included in this course involve watching and listening to videos, reading summaries, sharing your experiences, critical thinking, debating between groups, and writing essays – all in Thai. This Thai language learning will combine your listening, reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills.
NOTE: We do not recommend that you go through this course unless you have a wealth of experience and have spent many years mastering Thai. This course is for those who are fluent in Thai and relatively close to matching a native Thai speaker level in terms of listening, reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension.
